‘Reserve your right to think, for even to think wrongly is better than to not think at all’- Hypatia

This section deals with the uncertain, the unknowable, and the frustrating. Through the tools of literature, science, maths and philosophy, it aims to find some clarity and vision despite the fog of irresolution.

To what extent is life random?

Can our life simply be defined by probabilities? Do we have control over the trajectory of our own lives? Or is their a higher being who is simply exercising their plan through human life? Is fate real? What about destiny? Through the means of religion, science, philosophy and literature we can try to find some sense and order within this disorder and unpredicitblity, both on an individual level and macroscopic level.  This essay makes use of  Ramsey Theory, Quantum Entanglement, theist and absurdist philosophy and biological processes to find some understanding.

Is eternal life possible?

What would it mean to live forever? Would meaning be taken out of human life? Is death,as we know it now, truly the end of our lives?Does heaven really exist? Through the means of literature, religion, philosophy, and science we can try to understand and explore these questions, along with the many that follow.  Whether we use the theory of atomism, Plato’s theory of the two forms, or even the poetry of Christina Rossetti, this topic is still one of many paradoxes and uncertainty. This essay explores various theoretical possibilities and what they would mean for life as we currently know it.

Is there purpose or meaning in life?

Inherent to our human nature is to find meaning or purpose to our existence; to feel as if what we do and think is for a reason, even if unknown to us at the time. Whether this purpose is individual and internal, or reciprocal and external, the pursuit for meaning can often seem somewhat uncertain and overwhelming. This essay aims to discuss the possibility of one finding meaning in life, or if this is simply not possible. Through the lens of religion, philosophy, and literature, we can find some clarity about what our existence means.
